D is for Dance Party

January 26 – February 4, 2024

By Kerry Ferguson
Run Time:
50 minutes (no intermission)

Younts Stage

Age recommendation: K4 and up

Following the structure of the alphabet but filled with the creative chaos of a child’s mind, this play explores language, emotion, and some important shared experiences of childhood. Sometimes it’s loud! Sometimes it’s quiet! Sometimes it’s silly; often, it’s not. Always…it’s a massive messy mess. Audiences of all ages will delight in this theatrical collage (with music!) covering little kid milestones from Art to Naps, Birthdays to Fish Funerals, and Secret Clubs to Spooky Hideouts. In 50 minutes, the play’s ensemble cast will adventure into the challenges and charms of being a child — all the way from A-Z!

Artistic Director Matt Giles: “I am very passionate about programming new work and promoting local artists, which is why I asked local playwright Kerry Ferguson, writer of 21-22’s The Missing Moon, to create this exciting new play for SCCT audiences. Kerry’s work is so uplifting and filled with joy, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us this season.”
