January 27th – 7:00 PM
January 28th – 10:30 AM & 2:00 PM
January 29th – 2:00 PM
February 4th – 10:30 AM, 2:00 PM & 6:00 PM
February 5th – 2:00 PM & 6:00 PM

School Performances: There are 4 school performances scheduled for February 2nd and 3rd at 9:45 AM & 11:45 AM

Ages: for this production, we are looking for actors 12 years old and up.

Style: Drama, non-musical. Requires versatile actors who can all play multiple roles. Some roles demand physical comedy.

Preparation: Actors will be sent sides from the script after they have made their audition appointment. You will not need to be off-book on these sides, but should be familiar with them. 

Rehearsal schedule: First rehearsal/orientation will be December 20 at 6:30 PM — everyone will be called. Rehearsals will typically be held Sunday-Thursday evenings, though not everyone will be called to every rehearsal. Tech week begins January 21st.

Roles available: The show is written for 4 actors. The suggested tracks are listed below. The director reserves the right to adjust these tracks and/or to cast additional actors. The listing below is for reference purposes only. 

  • The Traveler: Our storyteller who plays Pellegrina, Society Lady, Martin, Margory, Lolly, Jack the Watchman, the Old Lady, Crow Pellegrina, Marlene, Lucius Clarke
  • The Woman: Portrays Abilene, Nellie, Lucy the Dog, various other hobos, Star 1, Sarah Ruth, Neal, Doll, the Old Doll, the Shopper
  • The Musician: The voice of Edward’s thoughts and emotions. Ideally plays guitar. 
  • The Man: Portrays Abilene’s Father, Amos, Lawrence, Bull, various hobos, Bryce, Star 2.
