Bethany joined SCCT in August 2023. Bethany oversees fund development strategies, including corporate, foundation, government, capital, and individual donors, and a robust cultivation & stewardship program. Prior to joining SCCT, she worked at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Infinity Marketing, FAVOR Greenville, United Housing Connections, Georgia Shakespeare Festival, and Kentucky Shakespeare. Bethany is also the co-founder of Schooley Mitchell Greenville, a B2B cost-reduction consultancy. She interned with the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), Americans for the Arts, and The Norton Center for the Arts and stretched her arts muscles by teaching music & drama for ages Pre-K to 12th grade at the Montessori School of Anderson. She is an Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) member and served on the board as VP of Membership from 2016-2018. Kern has been an active member of the Upstate’s volunteer community, serving United Way of Greenville County, Mill Town Players, Warehouse Theatre, Shakespeare & Friends in Tryon, NC, Greenville Literacy Association, The Maysville Players, and others. Bethany has a BA in Dramatic Arts and English from Centre College in Danville, KY, where she met her husband, Montana (also a theatre nerd). They’ve lived happily ever after in Greenville since 2013. She is thrilled to join the SCCT family and rejoin the theatre community!
