Get a taste of stardom and explore the process of theatre training through high-energy theatre games, improvisation and activities on a special winter-mester theme! Create characters, explore dramatic interpretation, learn lingo and challenge your imagination and expression. Every class will include a variety of dramatic activities and training styles.
There will be no official “sharings” as part of this session—the focus will be on the topic rather than preparing for performance, but parents are welcome to quietly observe any class if discussed with the teacher in advance. Some teachers may elect to open a portion of the final class for observation.
An Actor Prepares, the first book by Constantin Stanislavski considered to be the father of modern/realistic acting, serves as a foundation for the acting study in this class. The System explored the concepts of: Relationship, Objective, Obstacle, Strategy, Tactics, Text, Subtext, Inner Monologue, Evaluation and Beats. Any serious student of drama should be well grounded in Stanislavski’s System. Our exploration will still be very fun and activity filled, but with more focused work for the older student.
