INTERMEDIATE LEVEL – Rising Grades 6th-12th

Multi-age classes for students who are ready and willing to work in an environment where everyone will be expected to share the responsibility for the end-of-session performance. Classes are based on a curriculum that builds a sense of purpose in theatre work, creates a realistic outlook when approaching performance, and provides an analytical challenge for students with more focus on theatre theory, observation and evaluation and less focus on individual performance. Reading and homework will be required.

Before enrolling for an Intermediate Level class, the student should have been enrolled in Process or Production classes for at least one year (two or more semesters in the past school year) or have the equivalent class experience elsewhere—for questions, please email [email protected].

Intermediate Level and teacher recommendation is required to be given the pre-test for Studio A or B level for Fall enrollment.

Personification in Performance – Evening Camp July 29-Aug 1
Discover how to develop characters for stage that utilize the qualities animals and objects for performance. We will explore two sides of this concept: using an animal to inspire character choices that will provide a compelling portrayal of a human character, and finding qualities in voice and movement to portray actual animal characters onstage. Through improvisation, research, and recreation actors will develop skills that will enable their performance to stand out in the herd!

Get Out Of Your Head! – July 29-Aug 2 and Evening Camp June 24-27
Discover how an outside – in approach will free actors up to make noticeable character choices, find pathways to emotional states, and ensure that your audience receives the message you send. Develop confidence through a series of movement-based exercises and activities.  Actors will explore techniques that broadcast creative work, and increase strength and control of breath and body. A short performance piece will showcase our work on last day of class.
