Every show you see has dedicated young people running the spotlights, handling the backstage set moves or prop handoffs, costume quick changes and sometimes even running the light board or body mics. It’s a whole other world of theatre and no show can operate without it. And running the whole production is the stage manager. From auditions to closing night the Stage Manager is the person keeping everything together. For this class, we welcome SCCT’s Production Stage Manager, Meghan Kegaris, to give students the details of how she manages our shows, as well as Lexie West, Warehouse Theatre Tour Stage Manager and SCCT Teaching Artist who grew up with us on the backstage crew of many, many shows!REGISTER & INFO

A GREAT class if working behind the scenes on a show might appeal to you or you have a passion for visual arts! A designer is the ultimate collaborator – taking the needs of the script, the concept of the director, the limits of the budget or schedule and STILL creating an imaginative world for the play. In addition, students will have the opportunity of helping with scenic painting, building props, on top of learning about programming on a light board and designing sets, lights, and sounds for a show.REGISTER & INFO

Offered at no cost, but if you have time to usher for us, or help with volunteer calls for load-ins or events etc—just do those things as you can — We’ll send out emails announcing our need, and if you can help, please do.It’s a chance for anyone from beginners to seasoned actors to get together to learn more about all things theatre related as well as a chance to work on material within an ensemble of like-minded, supportive students. Betsy Bisson is the Education Director at SCCT and has 30 + years of experience teaching acting. If you’re a new student, you will be required to come to an orientation before being admitted into the class. The orientation will give you an idea of how the class is structured, what will be covered (and what won’t), and what the expectations of the students are. People who would like to be considered for admission should email to attend an orientation. New students will be admitted pending that orientation. As the class is offered free-of-charge, only students willing to commit to fairly consistent attendance should sign-up for an orientation/possible slot in the class. We call it AA (because no one can give you grief for going to an AA meeting) and it meets on Sunday evenings pending parking lot availability in the 6-8:30pm range. ** CHILD CARE IS NOT OFFERED DURING ADULT ACTING CLASSES and children may not sit in the building without adult supervision. **Mandatory Orientation – Sunday, August 25 from 6:00-7:30pm TO SIGN UP FOR A SLOT AT THE ORIENTATION – please email betsy@scchildrenstheatre.orgYour Name, Email address, Best Phone # and the reason you want to take the class. Any previous history in theatre/acting? Specific goals? At the actual Orientation please be prepared to share your favorite play/musical/movie you’ve seen and why/how it impacted you. To be accepted into the class, you will be expected to understand and agree to our class expectations for attendance and participation and discuss and anticipated conflicts with the schedule listed below. It is NOT at all recommended to miss any of the first 4 class dates (9/8, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29).**Returning students (students who have completed at least one semester of the class and performed in a Sharing, or former SCCT students who are now graduates and have already learned the foundational material) must email betsy@scchildrenstheatre.org BEFORE the first class to let her know you plan to return for the semester and detail what your goals are, please also include the type of material you want to work on, if you already have a scene partner lined up, and if you have already found material you would like to work on (if so, please include a pdf or picture of the material).
