SCCT’s Sensory Friendly Room is outfitted with soft rugs, bean bags, noise-canceling headphones, and fidget toys, creating a comfortable environment for children and adults who may benefit from a break during the performance.
SCCT’s Sensory Friendly Room features a live video feed of performances from either the Bell Stage or Younts Stage, allowing you to enjoy the show in an environment that may feel more comfortable and supportive for you.
This room was made possible through grantfunding from Greenville Women Giving, Messer Construction Foundation, and the South Carolina Arts Commission.
Relaxed Performances at SCCT are specially adapted productions designed to create a welcoming, sensory-friendly experience for children and families who are neurodivergent or may find traditional theatre settings overwhelming.
Through adjustments like softened sound and lighting, visual cues, flexible seating, reduced audience size, and trained accessibility support, these performances ensure every child can experience live theatre while building confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging.
In our 26-27 season, we are excited to offer two Relaxed Performances.

Meet Your Seat is an opportunity to practice the sometimes-stressful process of attending a play.
At Meet Your Seat, patrons will meet with trained SCCT Staff Members and will walk through picking up tickets, scanning tickets, and finding your physical seat.
To set up a time to “Meet Your Seat” please email our Accessibility Coordinator, Andrea, at andrea@scchildrenstheatre.org
Our downtown Greenville facility is designed to welcome everyone, including wheelchair-accessible seating, accessible restrooms, and 4 handicap designated parking spots.
The Bell stage offers 25 accessible seats, including three dedicated wheelchair spots — and seats throughout can be removed to create even more accessible space as needed.
Twelve of those seats are located in our boxes, which double as flexible seating for patrons who need room to stretch their legs during the show. The Younts Stage prioritizes accessible seating as well.
When purchasing tickets online, you can select an accessible seat(s) or contact the Box Office at 864-235-2885 ext. 103 to purchase your tickets and request an accessible seat(s).
SCCT’s assistive listening devices are pocket-sized amplifiers with large, easy-to-use volume and tone controls, allowing you to customize your listening experience. Compatible with telecoil hearing aids, each device includes mini-earbuds and headphones. Assistive listening devices are available upon request at the box office.
Sign language interpreters can be arranged. Please contact our Patron Services Manager, Andrea at andrea@scchildrenstheatre.org to inquire.
We’re forming an Accessibility Council with voices from our staff, teen council, parent community, and disabled community. Their insight will help us make sure our accessibility efforts are authentic and truly meet the needs of our patrons.
Have an idea or suggestion? We’d love to hear from you! Contact our Accessibility Coordinator, Andrea Azumendi, at andrea@scchildrenstheatre.org to inquire.
