SCCT is proud to reveal its 37th season with an entirely new look and feel
Managing Director Katie O’Kelly aims to uphold the organization’s mission with this fresh branding, and FUEL for Brands was instrumental in achieving this goal. SCCT was a recipient of the branding agency’s FUEL for Good Grant. “I’m thrilled to unveil our rebranding and new logo for SCCT, which was a labor of love done alongside our branding partner, FUEL. This fresh, bold, and updated visual identity signals a new chapter in our organization. Still, our commitment remains steadfast to serve young people and their families in the Upstate of South Carolina.”
Alongside the new logo, symbolizing the inclusivity and joy that SCCT values, the organization has redesigned its website to be more accessible for 21st-century users thanks to a capacity grant given by the Community Foundation of Greenville. “GruffyGoat helped us find an interface that aligns with contemporary web design, featuring strong mobile functionality and a more intuitive user experience,” says O’Kelly, “This change is vital to our accessibility initiative – making it easier for families and schools to access the high-quality productions and education we are known for. We could not have done this work without the grand funding received by the Community Foundation of Greenville.”
With support from local partners and grant funding, SCCT has leveraged this new look to launch a season that continues to empower and inspire multigenerational audiences. A slate of shows have been curated that are guaranteed to intrigue and entertain SCCT patrons, offering families engaging opportunities to connect in new ways.
2024-2025 Season
BALLOONACY
September 14 – September 29, 2024
A red balloon drifts through the window of an elderly man and then hilarity ensues in this sweet, inventive production by Barry Kornhouser. “This story is told without a word being spoken,” comments Giles. “Audiences of all ages will love watching actor and clown Jesse Siak explore the power of being at play.” Siak will exude the playfulness of his Charlie Chaplin-like character experiencing the winding path of building a friendship. A laugh-filled treat, this show is a delight for both preschoolers and parents!
JUNIE B. JONES, THE MUSICAL!
September 27 – October 13, 2024
First day of 1st Grade? No problem for our favorite student – Junie B. Jones! Come along on a nostalgic journey back to grade school in JUNIE B. JONES, THE MUSICAL! Experience the ups and downs of friendship, a heated kickball tournament and other hilarious adventures of the spunky Junie B. This enchanting adaptation of Barbara Park’s original book is full of catchy songs, laughter and is a fun-filled reminder of the joys and challenges of childhood!
CARMELA FULL OF WISHES
October 25 – November 10, 2024
It’s Carmela’s birthday and she is overjoyed because she’s finally old enough to tag along with her big brother as he does the family errands! As they make their way through town, Carmela finds a lone dandelion in the pavement. Before she can blow its white fluff away, her brother tells her she has to make a wish. Now, with the help of her brother, she has to think of just the right wish.
THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER: THE MUSICAL
November 22 – December 15, 2024
The story of the Herdmans comes to life in a new, musical version never before seen on the SCCT stage! Adapted from the play by Barbara Robinson, and written by Jahnna Beachman and Malcolm Hillgartner, this holiday treat is for all ages. The rambunctious Herdman gang lies, steals, bullies other kids, and even smokes smelly cigars. The only safe place to hide from them used to be church. This changes when the entire “herd” shows up in search of pizza, cookies and Hawaiian Punch, and ends up in the Christmas pageant. Grace, the novice director in the play, is torn between getting rid of the Herdmans, or letting them stay at the risk of producing the worst pageant in the history of the world. This night at the theatre should be a part of any family’s holiday plans!
THE VERY HUNGRY CATEPILLAR SHOW
January 24, 2025 – February 9, 2025
Back by popular demand, this season’s production of THE VERY HUNGRY CATEPILLAR SHOW will also feature BROWN BEAR, BROWN BEAR, and a new tale – THE VERY LONELY FIREFLY. This colorful and engaging production promises to delight once again with its puppetry spectacle straight out of the popular children’s books. This will be a must-see production of little ones possibly enjoying their first live theatre performance!
ALICE
February 21 – March 9, 2025
Embark on a whimsical trip through Wonderland with ALICE, an SCCT original adaptation of a classic tale. Alice’s world will come to life like never before, as iconic characters like the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat and others lead the audience through adventures of self-discovery and empowerment.
LISTEN
April 4 – April 13, 2025
Set at a high school dance, LISTEN brings the phenomenon of the “silent disco” to the stage in an innovative and interactive experience no one else in the country is offering! Audiences will be swept up, not only in the mystery of the story, but also the technical wizardry it takes to tell it.
MATILDA THE MUSICAL
April 25 – May 18, 2025
In Roald Dahl’s MATILDA THE MUSICAL, audiences will be delighted by the precocious Matlida Wormwood and her incredible imagination. In this beloved story Matilda faces bullies, stands up to injustice and discovers the power of her voice while using her extraordinary telekinetic powers. Her unkind family and tyrannical headmistress at Crunchem Hall are no match for Matilda! Together, with her much-loved teacher Miss Honey, Matilda discovers the strength that comes from being true to herself. Don’t miss this dazzling production sure to bring out the magic in all of us!

A huge part of the SCCT experience is participation in one of the many Summer Camps, happening May 28 – August 22, 2024! SCCT offers one-of-a-kind programs of exploration into the world of collaboration and performance for all ages.
Two additional upcoming shows include The SpongeBob Musical running April 26 – May 19, and an SCCT Teen Musical production of Godspell later this summer.
